Project Highlights

The RBC WaterPark Place PATH pedestrian walkway bridge is designed to slide sideways to provide access to the underside of the Gardiner Expressway for maintenance. We designed, fabricated and installed a height-adjustable bird deterrent netting system that allows – when the bridge moves sideways – for vertical movement of the bird net to compensate for height difference between the roof of the bridge and the underside of the highway.

The construction of the bridges started off site and the separately built sections were lifted in place over a weekend.

Pigeon Busters was involved at the early planning stage with WZMH Architects to design a system that would prevent pigeons establishing their habitat on top of the bridge – in the small, sheltered gap between the top of the bridge and the underside of the Gardiner Expressway.

Careful planning for the extremely small clearances was critical in the design and coordinating with Client every step of the way was crucial to ensure that the job gets done on time and without traffic interruptions.
