Project Highlights
This small project was one of those when the building maintenance crew thought they could handle it cheaply with chicken wire. Guys, you aren’t getting paid for walking on building ledges, risking your lives putting up some wire, just so that we can take it off later and do the job properly.
The exposed walk platform made this job very meticulous and spanning the netting between the enclosing wall edges and the units’ edges required some acrobatics. Usually this solution can only be used when the top of surrounding wall enclosure is level with the units so that bird netting can be span to close the opening below.
In most cases like this hospital cooling tower, custom support poles can be fabricated to elevate the bird netting to the required height.
Access can always be facilitated using a long zipper. This overall approach can be quite effective as the pigeons only need to be denied access to below the units; the top remains completely exposed and it discourages the pigeons to continue perching and they move from the area.
